KMTC Requirements for Diploma in community health nursing and Campuses
The Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing is a three-year diploma course offered at the Kenya Medical Training College. Its core focus is holistic nursing care, with an emphasis on community health nursing (Community-based care), disease prevention, and primary health care delivery.
In the first 2025 KUCCPS placement cycle, education CS revealed that diploma in nursing is the most sough after course in KMTC attracting 27,000 applicants out of the 52,725 application made in the cycle. Other preffered courses were diploma in clinical medicine and surgery, medical emergency technician, and community health.
There are two entry pathways for this course: Direct entry and upgrading for holders of a certificate in enrolled community health nursing.
Requirements for Diploma in Registered Community Health Nursing.
The direct entry requirements for the course are a KCSE mean grade of C plain or above, C plain in biology, C plain in one language subject (English/Kiswahili), and a C minus in either chemistry, mathematics, or physics.
If you don’t meet the direct requirements, you can enrol for a certificate in community health nursing and then upgrade to a diploma in registered community health. Upgrading only takes two years.
